The Tour Route
Trafalgar Square
Our starting point and one of London's great stages. Stand beneath Nelson's Column, watch the fountains, and hear why this square has been the backdrop to every major event in London's modern history.
Whitehall & Downing Street
Walk the most powerful street in Britain past the Cenotaph, Banqueting House, and the Horse Guards — then peer down Downing Street, home of every British Prime Minister since 1735.
Houses of Parliament & Big Ben
The Gothic Palace of Westminster and the Elizabeth Tower — the most photographed clock in the world. Understand what happens inside Parliament and why the building looks the way it does.
Westminster Abbey
Every coronation since 1066. Seventeen monarchs buried here. The Poet's Corner, the Coronation Chair, and the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior — one of the most layered buildings in Europe.
St James's Park
London's oldest royal park, originally a deer park for Henry VIII. Cross it with the palace view ahead and discover the surprisingly wild side of central London — including the resident pelicans.
Buckingham Palace
Our final stop. The official London residence of the monarch — learn the real history of the palace, what the flag over the roof means, and what happens here on the days the guards change.
“Best free tour we've ever done — Anze knew every hidden detail about Westminster, the two hours flew by. We came back the next day for the Soho tour.”

What to Expect
Get ready for a fun and engaging walk through the heart of London. This tour moves at a relaxed but steady pace and includes plenty of stops, so you can take in the views, learn the stories, and enjoy every moment without feeling rushed.
Your guide will share insider knowledge, local perspectives, and memorable stories that you would never hear on a standard London sightseeing tour. This is not a heavy history lecture. Instead, you will get the essential facts mixed with quirky anecdotes, surprising details, and real London insight that brings each landmark to life.
You will explore famous sights around Westminster and discover many hidden corners along the way. It is a friendly introduction to the city and a great way to start your trip. You will also get personalised recommendations for food, museums, neighbourhoods, and things to do for the rest of your stay.
On selected dates the tour may include watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony. This is not guaranteed since the schedule can change or be cancelled. If it happens on your tour it is an exciting bonus.
By the end you will understand London in a way that guidebooks and self-guided visits simply cannot match.

With us, there is no upfront cost — you simply decide at the end what the experience was worth to you. Our guides are experienced local storytellers who spend many hours researching, refining, and delivering their tours. Your contribution is what allows us to keep these tours running and accessible to everyone. We are only able to operate because of your support, so thank you in advance for helping keep London Insiders going.
Do the guides accept card payments for tips?
Yes, all guides accept both cash and card tips. If you prefer to tip by card, just ask your guide at the end of the tour and they will share their payment link or contactless option.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking in advance is strongly recommended. It helps us manage group sizes and gives your guide time to prepare for the number of guests attending. You will also receive your confirmation email with the meeting point, the guide's contact number, and your link to cancel or rebook if your plans change.
Can I cancel or rebook my free walking tour?
Yes, you can cancel or rebook your tour at any time. Every confirmation email includes a link where you can easily change your booking without needing to contact us. If you prefer, you can also reach out to us directly and we will help you update your reservation. We know travel plans can change, so we keep this process simple and flexible.
Where does the tour start and finish?
The tour starts at Trafalgar Square and finishes at Buckingham Palace. You will receive a confirmation email with a full meeting point map and guide contact details once you book.
What if I arrive late?
It is very important to arrive on time because guides begin the tour promptly and often cannot return to the meeting point. However, please try to be on time as it gives you the full experience and helps the guide keep the group together.
What if the weather is bad?
