The Tour Route
Oxford Circus — The Argyll Arms
Our starting point. One of London's finest Victorian pubs, built in 1867. Before we enter Soho, hear why Oxford Street became the commercial spine of the West End.
Carnaby Street
The heartbeat of 1960s counterculture — where David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and The Who defined a generation. Hear how a single street changed British fashion forever.
Soho Square
The green lung at the centre of Soho — a gathering place for artists, writers, and musicians for over three centuries. Hear the surprising stories behind this deceptively quiet square.
Dean Street
Soho's most storied street. Karl Marx lived here in poverty. Francis Bacon drank here. The Groucho Club sits here. Hear why this single street tells the whole story of bohemian London.
Chinatown & Gerrard Street
London's Chinatown — vibrant with lanterns, bakeries, and restaurant culture. Learn how this community established itself here after WWII, and what the area was before.
Leicester Square
The home of British film premieres and street entertainment. Hear its transformation from a fashionable residence to the heart of London's entertainment district.
Covent Garden
Our final stop — the historic piazza that went from a vegetable market to one of London's most visited destinations. Finish with personalised recommendations from your guide for the rest of your trip.
“We have done walking tours all over Europe and this was hands-down the best. Anze was funny, incredibly knowledgeable and took us to places we would never have found. The Soho stories blew my mind.”

What to Expect
Get ready for a relaxed late afternoon walk through Soho as the neighbourhood starts to light up for the evening. The tour moves at an easy pace with plenty of stops so you can take photos, enjoy the atmosphere and really experience the energy of the West End.
Your guide will share insider stories about London's music scene, famous venues, café culture and the creative communities that made Soho what it is today. This is not a heavy history lesson. You will get the essential facts mixed with the fun, surprising and often quirky moments that make this area so unique.
You will explore well known streets along with hidden alleyways and back routes that most visitors walk past without realising their importance. The route is suitable for most travellers and is mostly flat with a few uneven surfaces, as is typical in central London.
The tour also includes stories connected to Theatreland, 60s Soho, LGBTQ+ history, Chinatown, Liberty, the John Snow pub, Seven Dials and the people who helped turn this neighbourhood into a cultural powerhouse.
At the end of the walk you will finish in Covent Garden, where your guide will give personalised recommendations for bars, restaurants, theatre shows and things to do during the rest of your trip. By the end of this free Soho walking tour, you will see Soho with completely new eyes.

How much does the tour cost?
Tipping is completely optional and always up to you. Most traditional tour companies in London charge between £15–£20 for a 1.5-hour walking tour. With us, there is no upfront cost — you simply decide at the end what the experience was worth to you. Our guides are experienced local storytellers who spend many hours researching, refining, and delivering their tours. Your contribution is what allows us to keep these tours running and accessible to everyone. We are only able to operate because of your support, so thank you in advance for helping keep London Insiders going.
Do the guides accept card payments for tips?
Yes, all guides accept both cash and card tips. If you prefer to tip by card, just ask your guide at the end of the tour and they will share their payment link or contactless option.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking in advance is strongly recommended. It helps us manage group sizes and gives your guide time to prepare for the number of guests attending. You will also receive your confirmation email with the meeting point, the guide's contact number, and your link to cancel or rebook if your plans change.
Can I cancel or rebook my free walking tour?
Yes, you can cancel or rebook your tour at any time. Every confirmation email includes a link where you can easily change your booking without needing to contact us. If you prefer, you can also reach out to us directly and we will help you update your reservation. We know travel plans can change, so we keep this process simple and flexible.
What if I arrive late?
It is very important to arrive on time because guides begin the tour promptly and often cannot return to the meeting point. However, please try to be on time as it gives you the full experience and helps the guide keep the group together.
